BENGglas wins Bouwbeurs Award ‘Smart and Efficient’.
BENGglas was awarded the Bouwbeurs Award in the ‘Smart and Efficient’ category during the Bouwbeurs (6 – 10 February in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht). BENGglas is extremely thin insulating glass with a U-value of 0.40. Despite the small thickness of (minimum) 6.3 mm, it performs considerably better than HR++ glass and Triple glass, with a U-value of 1.1 and 0.80 respectively.
Because it is so thin, it fits into existing frames, so replacing frames is not necessary. In addition, the glass is relatively light; the thinnest variant weighs only 20 kg/m2. According to BENGglas, Triple glazing is often at least 75 percent heavier. Heavy glass is also considerably more expensive to install and requires heavier (more expensive) hinges and locks.
