From Sewage to Roofing
During the Dutch Design Week, at the end of October in Eindhoven, the company BlueRoof presented a roofing material developed by it made from so-called grid goods. This grid is a collective name for the solid components that are removed from the water in the first step of water purification. For the most part, this material consists of the hygienic wipes, but objects such as telephones, cans or even toys can also be found in them.
According to the developers, the BlueRoof concept not only solves the problem of the grating material that is now burned directly, but also creates a more sustainable replacement for the lava granules that are now applied to the green roofs. In 2019, BlueRoof will therefore carry out a pilot to demonstrate the effect of the product.
