Research into alternative organic raw materials for the production of traditional plastics

February 15, 2024 – Scientists are researching biowaste from food as a starting ingredient for polymers. The American Chemical Society (ACS) listed three recent publications. Such as a coffee grounds-based material that can be used to 3D print coffee tables, a tomato-based polyester plastic and a compostable composite made from gluten and carbon fibres.
