Self-heating concrete makes shoveling snow unnecessary
March 18, 2024 – Researchers at Drexel University have developed a type of antifreeze concrete mix that prevents the surface from freezing and can thaw snow and ice. Drexel has been working on the material for five years, but until now it has only worked in a controlled laboratory environment. But now the researchers have shown that the material also functions in the outdoor environment. The results of the study were published March 18 in the American Society for Civil Engineering’s Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering.
