Smart Screed floors thanks to continuous residual moisture monitoring

Sensors embedded in the screed monitor moisture levels for years and can also detect penetrating water at a later stage.

June 24, 2025 – Construction costs have been rising for years. One way to reduce these costs is by optimizing construction processes and techniques. As part of the EstriPass project, Fraunhofer IKTS is working with partners to further develop a sensor system for continuous monitoring of residual moisture in gypsum and concrete building materials. According to Fraunhofer, this can prevent damage caused by insufficient drying and increase durability.
