Steel price for starting station E-line the hague

The ZJA-designed Startstation E-line in The Hague has won the prestigious European Steel Design Merit Award 2019. The award is presented every two years by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS) to projects where steel has been used in an inspiring way. The eye-catcher of the station is the canopy of the platforms, which consists of curved glass and steel. A covered walking route in the form of an expressive awning connects the new column-free station with the hall of The Hague Central Station. The RandstadRail stops close to the NS station hall, the roof of the stop continues, so that passengers can quickly and dry from the Startstation E-line to The Hague Central Station. The starting station is located along the edge of the bus platform and high above the Anna van Buerenstraat.

ct. This takes the RandstadRail to more than twelve meters above ground level over the Bernhard viaduct to the station.

The design of the spatial roof was created and optimized using a parametric computer model. As a result, cold and single curved laminated glass with an almost rectangular basic shape could be used. In addition to the advantage of using cold curved glass, the material use of the steel structure could be drastically reduced. The realization of the Startstation E-line was carried out by ProRail, commissioned by the municipality of The Hague and contractor BAM Infra NL was responsible for the construction.
